Does it really matter
Does it really matter
the color of my skin
should it make a difference
what faith I hold within
In this world we live together
though our paths may never cross
love thy neighbor as thyself
is what I was always taught
Why do we pass judement
or spread a nasty word
all of us have feelings
and cry when we are hurt
Does it really matter
the color of my skin
should it make a difference
what faith I hold within
I've heard the cries of babies
because they had no food
seen many homeless people
in this darkened world
Many sick lay dying
as family members watch
feeling so darn helpless
because of healthcare costs
Children cold and naked
thirsty for a drink
bodies frail and dirty
makes my heart just sink
Loved ones called to duty
to fight on foreign land
war is so damn senseless
I'll never understand
I wish we could be united
and live in harmony
no more pain and suffering
the whole world could be free
We can make a difference
if we lend a helping hand
does it really matter
the color of ones skin
